Why I love doing in-home lifestyle session for newborn photos!

When I first started receiving inquiries for newborn sessions, I was a little hesitant. At the time, I thought newborn photos had to be those classic bright all white studio shots where the babies are swaddled perfectly in a beautiful bassinet with a teddy bear to next to them. There is nothing wrong with those photos, but they aren't exactly my style as I tend to lean more towards a documentary approach and not overly posed shots for my sessions. After speaking with some potential clients though I realized that while some may love those photos, there are definitely some people who prefer a more casual and in my opinion authentic style of newborn photography. And this is where I realized I could take my storytelling and documentary approach from photographing weddings and use it for my in-home lifestyle newborn sessions!

Instead of setting up the perfect shot, I love to come in and capture beautiful moments for how they are. If you have dogs, let's include them! Nursery is a little messy, well let's be honest who doesn't have a messy nursery! I want you to be able to look back at these photos 30 years from now and immediately be taken back to that time. With this approach, you will remember how much your oldest just wanted to hold your newborns hand, how your dog loved laying by the crib, and all of the books that you lined the shelves with during those early days.
