Taylor and Kenny's Engagement Photo Session at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve

Taylor and Kenny were a freaking hoot to work with. I met Taylor in college at Texas Tech University and I was so honored when she reached out wanting me to photograph her wedding. After officially booking to be their wedding photographer for their wedding next summer, we got straight into engagement photo session planning. This fun couple wanted somewhere with a nature/outdoorsy vibe, close to where they live, that wouldn't be too difficult to handle during the Texas summer heat. We decided that Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, TX would be the perfect location for their engagement photos.

This location has a few areas completely covered by trees, as well as a little creek bed, a bridge, some trails, and several beautiful open grassy fields. I love Arbor Hills Nature Preserve because it is a stunning location throughout the entire year! This is also a great location if you want to include your pups in your photos as it is extremely dog-friendly.

Taylor, Kenny, and I met by the entrance of the preserve before beginning our little adventure. Keep in mind, we did this session in the middle of July, in Texas. It was easily over 100 degrees, but these two were absolute champs the entire session. We did try to work as efficiently as possible though because no one wants to hang out for too long in that kind of heat! Pro tip -- if you are having photos taken during the summer, wedding or any portraits, definitely bring lots of water, a sweat towel, and maybe even a change of clothes! Photographers can do a lot of things when it comes to editing, but once sweat hits a certain point, it might be easier to switch up outfits! Don't worry if you are stressed about finding a second backup outfit though! Taylor and Kenny were laughing and smiling throughout their entire engagement photo session at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and their energy was truly contagious. I remember getting in my car after their session feeling so encouraged after being around such positive (and hilarious) people.
